"US Marines First To Hoist Old Glory" Marines Recruitment Poster by Sidney Riesenberg & Axel Tornrose (c. 1913)

Pre-WWI color offset lithograph recruitment poster with a central illustration by Riesenberg and vignettes of overseas duty and combat by Tornrose. Prior to their involvement in World War I, the various branches of the U.S. military often encouraged new recruits to join by touting the opportunities found within the service. Education, travel, and national pride were all used to appeal to the more adventuresome of America's citizens.

Condition: Good to Very Good

Rolled. Linen backed. Some light soiling on upper half of right border. Light creases that were smoothed out in linen backing but still visible. Mark on lower right corner.
