"Tag Your Shovel Day" WWI Home Front Poster (1918)

"Tag Your Shovel Day" WWI Home Front Poster (1918)

This poster was promoting an actual tag intended to be attached to your coal shovel as a reminder to conserve coal as part of the war effort. The front of the tag stated: "Save that Shovelful of Coal a day for Uncle Sam". The rear of the tag had a list of hints on conserving coal. One of these hints unfortunately advises wrapping your furnace and pipes with asbestos - which of course didn't turn out to be such great advice.

Size*: 12" x 18.75"
Condition: Very Good

Rolled. Linen backed. Border chips on upper corners were repaired in restoration. Only really visible under close inspection with bright light.
