The Hartford War Chest was a fundraising campaign during WWII to support the war effort. It was a community-wide effort in Hartford, Connecticut, aimed at collecting funds to help the military and those on the home front. The Hartford War Chest served as a local branch office of the National War Fund. The campaign sought to raise money for various organizations such as the Red Cross, the USO, and the Salvation Army, among others. The funds were used for a variety of purposes such as supporting soldiers and their families, providing medical aid and supplies, and assisting refugees. It also distributed funds to Hartford area family welfare, child care, health, and emergency wartime agencies.
